Afghan President Ashraf Ghani is expected to meet with his US. counterpart Donald Trump on coming Thursday.
The scheduled meeting was announced by U.S. National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster during a press conference at the White House on Friday.
"On Thursday, the President (Trump) will meet with the leaders of Turkey, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. The latter two countries in particular have suffered direct and persistent attacks on their sovereignty in recent years," McMaster told reporters.
Ghani last met Trump on the sidelines of a NATO conference in Brussels in May,
The upcoming meeting will be their first after Trump announced his administrations long-awaited strategy on Afghanistan last month.
Ghani will leave for U.S. on Sunday. During the visit, he will also attend the United Nations General Assembly debate on Tuesday.
